Your Pet Food and Meds Delivered to You

November 10, 2018 by

Did you know we offer a way to get your pet’s medications delivered to your door?

We thought we would offer this to make it more convenient and time-saving to get your pet what they need.

CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT!

We use the company called VetSource.  There are many online pharmacies who sell medications and other food products.  They may look and sound the same as VetSource but some are very different.  This is why we are happy to let you know that we offer home delivery of your pet’s needs from a source you can absolutely trust.

Your medications will be checked and double-checked for the utmost accuracy by licensed pharmacists.  It also means the meds you receive are the exact same medications you would get inside our hospital and with the exact same guarantee.

This is how it works:

  1. One of our vets recommend a medication
  2. You place an order through the link we give you (same link as above)
  3. Your prescription is confirmed & verified by licensed pharmacists
  4. Your prescription is confirmed once again
  5. The prescription is packaged and shipped
  6. The prescription arrives

You can even set-up auto-refills so you never have to think about it again–the medication will just appear on your door step when you run out.

Check out the website.  We also offer food, flea & tick preventative, heartworm preventative, etc.  It’s very simple and convenient.

Fleas and Ticks

November 17, 2017 by

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TICKS1

If you spend any time outdoors, you should know about the threat of disease-carrying ticks.

Ticks are not insects; they are relatives of spiders. These tiny blood sucking arachnids hide out in low brush or grass waiting to latch onto humans or dogs. They often remain unnoticed on humans or their pets for days, making them excellent carriers for disease. After feeding, an engorged female falls off to lay 3,000-6,000 eggs!

But beware! Ticks can be in your own backyard too. Mammals (raccoons or even squirrels) can bring them into your neck of the woods, creating a whole new tick population. Tick larvae, nymphs, or adult ticks can easily end up in residential areas waiting to be fed in your own garden or nearby park. The Brown Dog Tick can live and develop inside your house!

DID YOU KNOW?2

  • While ticks themselves cause only mild irritation, they can carry diseases that pose a serious threat to animals and humans.
  • Ticks can be prevented by regular use of tick control products.
  • Just pulling off a tick can leave body parts attached to your dog. Ask your veterinarian about proper tick removal and tick control.
  • Illnesses transmitted by ticks can case fever, anemia, paralysis, lameness, and other symptoms.
  • People cannot catch Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever from infected dogs, but the same ticks that bite dogs can cause these illnesses and others if they bite humans.
  • Adult ticks can live up to 3 years without a blood meal.
  • Ticks live on three different animals during their life.
  • Most ticks spend most of their life OFF the host (animal) in the environment.
  • Ticks can’t jump and don’t “fall from trees” as most people think, but transfer onto hosts when animals or humans walk through long grass, bushes, and brush.

Chewable Flea & Tick Prevention

June 29, 2017 by

Does your dog prefer a chewable, “treat-like” flea and tick prevention?

Some clients believe these are easier to give their pet because it’s not a topical and it’s very easy to give because it tastes good!  This form of protection is provided by Simparica®.

Simparica® provides protection for the following:

  • fleas
  • ticks

This particular brand protects against deer ticks which can spread Lyme Disease.  It can also help to prevent in-home flea infestations.

Protecting your dog from fleas is very important.  It may seem “costly” as it is a regular, monthly regimen. However, it is not if you think about what could happen if your dog is protected.  Firstly, fleas can create constant scratching and skin irritation.  This can soon lead to allergies that can make your dog have hair loss and different skin infections.  These infections require more health care and higher costs.  One of the scariest things about fleas is that they can also carry with them other parasites and diseases.  These parasites and diseases can create long-standing health issues that can be even more costly than regular flea protection.

Click here to print this coupon so you can get more flea protection for free, with your purchase at our clinic.

Love,

Flea And Tick Prevention

May 23, 2017 by

Many people believe that fleas are just a part of having a pet. This is not only a myth, but a dangerous and highly preventable problem. Did you know that these nasty creatures could also do a lot of damage to the health of your pet and yourself?

Fleas spread many diseases that can be fatal. Fleas transmit an intestinal parasite called tapeworms. Even though one or two fleas may not take much blood, a large number of fleas can make your pet lose an excessive amount leading to anemia.

When choosing the right preventives for your pet there are some things you should keep in mind. When using a topical treatment you should wait 3 days after you bathe your pet before and after application. Your pet has oils on their skin that help absorb and spread the medication. When you wash your pet shortly after applying a topical, you can wash off the medication. We do offer pill forms of preventives for dogs, which are beneficial for dogs that swim or bathed frequently.

We offer many preventives for your pet. Please call us today to determine the prevention that is best for you and your pets!

  • Capstar® is a pill that lasts for 24 hours, and is safe for dogs and cats of all ages.
  • Advantage® II is safe for dogs and cats over 7 weeks, and is dosed by the weight of your pet. It is a topical prevention that kills fleas, flea eggs, and flea larva.
  • Frontline Plus® is safe for dogs and cats over 8 weeks of age, and is dosed by the weight of your pet. Frontline kills fleas, flea eggs, flea larva and ticks.
  • Comfortis® is a chewable flea pill made only for dogs. Dogs must be over the age of 14 weeks and weigh at least 5 pounds.

Flea & Tick Prevention

Fleas spread many diseases that can be fatal. Fleas transmit an intestinal parasite called tapeworms. Even though one or two fleas may not take much blood, a large number of fleas can make your pet lose an excessive amount leading to anemia.  Any parasite that isn’t caught and handled can create future health problems and diseases.

When choosing the right preventives for your pet there are some things you should keep in mind. When using a topical treatment you should wait 3 days after you bathe your pet before and after application. Your pet has oils on their skin that help absorb and spread the medication. Fleas and ticks are easy to prevent.  It’s important that your pet be on a preventative.  It’s the cheaper option to prevent them now, versus handling all the health issues later stemming from your pet having had fleas and/or ticks.

Come see us and we will help you on which product is right for your pet.
