It’s about to be a new year–we hope you all had a great 2014! We hope us here at Day and Evening Pet Hospital were able to contribute to your year with a healthy and happy pet!
To keep your pet staying healthy and happy in the New Year and for many more to come, we wanted to let you know about our physical exams. They are important and are extremely key in maintaining your pet’s health.
Physical exams are strongly recommended yearly, if not every 6 months. Physical exams are not only done to see if anything is currently wrong with your pet, but to see if anything could be developing into something major. Physical exams could also be called a “preventative exam.”
Here are some basic points of a physical exam that will be inspected:
- Temperature taken (the normal temp of a dog or cat can vary from 101-102.5)
- Ears will be checked over for any possible infections (including the ear canal)
- Mouth and teeth will be looked over for any tooth decay/dental disease
- Our vets will check over the skin to ensure no food allergies, spots, anything that looks abnormal
If something may look to be a potential situation for your pet, the vet may order certain tests done and/or blood work.
Please call us for your pet’s next physical exam! Let’s all start the New Year off right and continue on with a healthy and happy pet.
