Your Pet Food and Meds Delivered to You

November 10, 2018 by

Did you know we offer a way to get your pet’s medications delivered to your door?

We thought we would offer this to make it more convenient and time-saving to get your pet what they need.

CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT!

We use the company called VetSource.  There are many online pharmacies who sell medications and other food products.  They may look and sound the same as VetSource but some are very different.  This is why we are happy to let you know that we offer home delivery of your pet’s needs from a source you can absolutely trust.

Your medications will be checked and double-checked for the utmost accuracy by licensed pharmacists.  It also means the meds you receive are the exact same medications you would get inside our hospital and with the exact same guarantee.

This is how it works:

  1. One of our vets recommend a medication
  2. You place an order through the link we give you (same link as above)
  3. Your prescription is confirmed & verified by licensed pharmacists
  4. Your prescription is confirmed once again
  5. The prescription is packaged and shipped
  6. The prescription arrives

You can even set-up auto-refills so you never have to think about it again–the medication will just appear on your door step when you run out.

Check out the website.  We also offer food, flea & tick preventative, heartworm preventative, etc.  It’s very simple and convenient.

Itchy Dog

November 8, 2018 by

All dogs itch.  Even us humans itch.  But, is your dog itching a lot?  Is it getting annoying?  Can you tell your dog is uncomfortable and can’t get relief from itching?  Is your dog’s skin possibly getting damaged due to itching and scratching?

For dogs that itch because of allergies, the 4 most common reasons are:

  • Fleas
  • Environmental allergens (grass, etc.)
  • Skin contact with allergens (shampoos, etc.)
  • Food

We have tests that can delineate exactly which allergy your dog has.  We will then recommend the best treatment protocol for that specific allergy.

Some symptoms your dog may need to be tested are:

  1. Excessive scratching
  2. Hair loss
  3. Recurrent ear problems
  4. Redness of the skin
  5. Body odor
  6. Foot chewing
  7. Excessive rolling
  8. Excessive scooting or rubbing
  9. Excessive chewing, licking, biting

At Day & Evening Pet Hospital, we do approve of APOQUEL® as a treatment for your dog with allergies.  It works at the source of the allergic itch to give your dog fast relief, regardless of the type of allergy.  APOQUEL® is safe for even longterm use.  With APOQUEL® your dog is less likely to suffer from the kinds of side effects often seen with steroids.  You can learn more about APOQUEL® here.

Help give your dog the relief he or she needs.  We are here to help them ensure they get it!

Hyperthyroid in Cats

November 7, 2018 by

Your cat’s thyroid hormone helps to regulate and control many normal bodily processes.  If your cat has a hyperthyroid, this means there is too much thyroid hormone in their system.  Generally this is due to a benign tumor that has developed on one or more of your cat’s thyroid glands.

Cats 7 years or older are normally affected by a hyperthyroid.  Tests can determine if your cats has a hyperthyroid or not.

Symptoms include:

  1. Weight loss
  2. Increased thirst
  3. Increased urination
  4. Diarrhea
  5. Vomiting
  6. Excessive grooming

If your cat gets diagnosed with a hyperthyroid don’t fret.  It really is a common thing and can be solved.  Treatment will help normalize your cat’s thyroid levels and reduce signs of disease.

Treatments vary cat to cat because some can be more severe than others.  General treatments are as follows:

  • Oral medication
  • Topical medication
  • Diet changes
  • Radioactive therapy
  • Surgery

We at Day and Evening Pet Hospital will work tirelessly to make sure we help your cat to be as comfortable and healthy as possible.  If your cat has one or some of these symptoms, please come in and get some tests done.  We are here to help make sure your pet has the healthiest and best life they can.
