More About Lyme Disease

August 8, 2017 by

Lyme Disease is a tick-borne disease that can be transmitted by only one tick bite.  This disease can affect dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes.  The more time a dog spends outside in areas where ticks are prevalent, the greater the risk your dog can get this disease!

This disease has been found in every state in the United States and even in some provinces in Canada.

When clinical signs do develop, they may be transient or recurrent and can include:

  • Fever
  • Decreased appetite
  • Swollen and painful joints (dogs may be reluctant to move)
  • Lameness – limping which may be mild at first, then worsen, and may also shift from one leg to another
  • Lethargy
  • Swollen lymph nodes

If you have ever seen a tick on your dog, you will need to get him or her the vaccination.

Our vaccine is $35 per injection.  At first there are 2 injections.  Your dog will get one and then 2-4 weeks later will need the 2nd (booster).  After that, the vaccine is then given only once a year.

The Importance of Knowing About Leptospirosis

July 25, 2017 by

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease which can infect dogs and humans.  (Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can be passed from animals to humans.)

How it spreads:

  • Bacteria is spread by rodents, raccoons, opossums and other mammals
  • It can also be spread through urine, feces and other bodily fluids

Most environments are frequented by these wild animals–especially front and back yards!  Exposure to this disease is more common that you may think.

Some symptoms from this bacterial disease:

  • lethargy
  • lack of appetite
  • vomiting

We offer a vaccine which will protect your pet from this disease.  All dogs NEED to be vaccinated for this disease because remember, it is transferable to humans.

This vaccine is only $15 per injection.  The first time your dog receives this vaccine, it will require a booster shot after 2 weeks.  After your dog has the booster, it is then just an annual shot.

Canine Influenza

July 22, 2017 by

Important:  Vaccination is the ONLY way to protect your dog from this disease.

Canine Influenza is a disease that infects the respiratory system and is extremely contagious.

This is a relatively new virus in dogs that originated in Asia.  It is also known as the Canine H3N8 virus, but most commonly known as Canine Influenza Virus (CIV).

Because this is a new disease, few dogs have been exposed to it and are considered susceptible.  This virus is highly contagious for dogs in close contact or housed together (places such as dog parks, kennels, shelters, etc.).  This disease can be deadly.

Several outbreaks have been reported throughout the U.S.  Cases have been documented in Florida and vaccination is the only preventative.

This vaccine is only $15 per injection.  The first time your dog receives this vaccine, it will require a booster shot after 2 weeks.  After your dog has the booster, it is then just an annual shot.

This vaccine is a safe and easy alternative to treating your dog when he or she gets the Influenza Virus.  Please vaccinate and safeguard your pet!

Heal Your Pet With Laser Therapy

July 18, 2017 by

What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy for your dog or cat is a surgery-free, drug-free and non-invasive way to treat your pet for the following:

  • Reduce Pain
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Speed Healing

It’s a Class IV deep tissue therapy treatment that uses a beam of light to deeply penetrate tissues without damaging them.  Laser energy induces a biological response in the cells called “photo-bio-modulation,” which leads to handling pain, inflammation and speeding general healing.

The laser light is transmitted through a noninvasive handpiece to treat the area needing attention.  Your pet may feel a gentle and soothing warmth.  Most treatments take only a matter of minutes.

Laser therapy has been scientifically proven to be successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions.

Chronic conditions bettered by laser therapy include:

  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Periodontal Disease
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Tendonitis
  • Arthritis
  • And many more

Acute conditions bettered by laser therapy include:

  • Wounds
  • Allergies
  • Infections
  • Cuts/bites
  • Inflammations
  • Tooth extraction pain
  • Fractures & sprains

We love laser therapy because it has proven to us to be so effective.  Call and ask us about it today and get your pet a consultation.  Alleviate your pet’s everyday aches and pains with laser therapy!! We want every pet to live a longer and healthier life.
